Measure T steering committee asks board for restructure

During public comment of the Madera County Board of Supervisors’ regular meeting on Tuesday, members of the recently developed Measure T steering committee asked for restructure of the Transportation Commission and Transportation Authority boards.

Mark Reed, a resident of Madera County and member of the steering committee for the 2023-2024 year, pointed out to the board that the committee has been prohibited from addressing the structure of the transportation commission and authority.

Addressing that the claim is governed by state codes, Reed states that to be only partly correct. Citing the make up being only subject to government code section 29535 of the state government code, indicating that only supervisors may appoint three people as board members of the authority and commission, with no requirement of who may be selected.
