Letters: Can you pass a U.S. citizenship test?

Has your dinner date ever been interrupted by a loud political conversation from a nearby table where the cackling conversationalists clearly did not know American history? Did it seem that rudimentary knowledge of high school civics overqualified those who may have wished to join the conversation? Did you refrain from correcting those who were ignorant and proud of it?
I have.
I have exercised my discretion to not intervene because I wasn’t asked for my opinions. It was obvious in the moment that ignorance was bliss, and there are times when you should admit to yourself that you can’t cure stupid.
