Laundry experiences

A few months ago, I mentioned that we had to get a new refrigerator. Our prior refrigerator lasted only about six years. The point was, each refrigerator we purchased lasted less time that the one before it. Thus, “They don’t make them like they used to.”

Last month, we had to buy a new washer and dryer set. We had had the prior set for about 25 years. The washer had been repaired a bunch of times throughout the past 25 years. One repair time, the fabric softener dispenser was completely clogged up. David took it apart, cleaned it up, but announced that it no longer functioned. Ever since that time, I have had to catch the rinse cycle so I could pour the fabric softener directly into the water. Most times, I didn’t catch the rinse cycle in time, and had to re-rinse.

On Saturday, about 3 weekends ago, I did about five loads of laundry, and when I was finished, I commented to my husband, “When this washing machine finally goes out, I hope to get one where the fabric softener dispenser actually works.”
