Hospital is still looking to reopen

Last Thursday evening, Madera Coalition for Community Justice coordinated a Town Hall Forum to discuss available resources for access to healthcare services and our shared commitment to reopening Madera Community Hospital. We are grateful for the Coalition’s leadership and thank those who participated on the panel and those who attended. A special thanks to our community physicians. Without doctors there can be no hospital.

We cannot reopen without the help of our elected and appointed representatives. We are encouraged by Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria and Senator Anna Caballero, the continued assistance of Congressman Jim Costa, and looking forward to working with Congressman John Duarte. They, along with their colleagues, have quickly learned the financial struggles of hospitals in the Central Valley and throughout California.

Both closing and reopening a hospital is very complicated. In conjunction with state regulatory and policy advocates, the Hospital Board Administrative team are all working on four strategies to reopen, along with the support of our community physicians.
