Highway dedication held for fallen CHP officer

For The Madera Tribune

Members of the California Highway Patrol and the Charles D. Goss family gather with dignitaries at the sign dedicating a stretch of State Route 152 for the fallen patrolman.

A ceremony honoring the memory of California Highway Patrol officer Charles D. Goss, who was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 25, 1955, was held at the San Joaquin Winery.

Monday’s ceremony followed a highway memorial dedication on Highway 152, between Road 5 and Road 10.

Officer Goss was a California Highway Patrol officer, who was on patrol the day after Thanksgiving in 1955. It was a foggy day, and he had arrived at an accident to file a report.
