Cops: Double homicide independent of each other

The Madera Police Department has determined that the two homicides that happened last weekend were not related to each other.

“As we continue our investigation, we wanted to update the community with regards to the two homicides which occurred over the weekend. We have determined at this time, the two are independent of one another and appear to have no connection,” said the police in a statement.

According to the Madera Police Department, the first incident took place on Sunday morning, shortly before 1 a.m., in the area of 4th and “E” St., where 22-year-old Kalon Bolden was shot and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Madera PD also stated the second incident took place on Sunday morning at approximately 3:15 a.m., in the 200 block of Renee Way, where 26-year-old Cristobal Rubio was shot and pronounced deceased on scene.

Madera Police is working diligently to locate and arrest those responsible for these senseless acts.

The Madera PD asks anyone with information about either incident, to call 675-4255 or call Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP. As in all cases, callers can remain anonymous.
