City Council approves Madera PD switch guns
Madera City Council members enjoyed a short regular meeting Wednesday night, lasting less than an hour.
In that hour, however, council members discussed the utilization of translation services for residents attending council meetings, conducted a public hearing for input, and listened to a request from Madera Police for firearm updates.
Madera Police will be trading in their current side duty arms, soon. Currently using a .40 caliber, Madera’s law enforcement officers will be replacing them with a Glock 9mm handgun. Many military and police agencies have already switched as law enforcement standards have moved away from the .40 cal to the 9mm in recent years for a variety of reasons.
