All welcome at God’s Table

Angel L. de Jesus Jr./The Madera Tribune

After 3 weeks of closure for repairs to its ceiling, Holy Family Table has reopened the doors of its dining hall, While closed, they still continued to serve takeout meals. They serve about 150-200 meals daily from 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.

Local organization helps provide for those in need

It’s 8 a.m. and people are already lining up outside the Holy Family Table dining room. Inside, a dedicated team of volunteers, including youth, led by Father John Warburton, Manager Amanda Delgado, and Assistant Manager Laura Rios, have been preparing what they plan to serve for that day to up to 200 individuals in search of a hot meal this morning.

The numbers include not just the typical transient one might expect to see asking for what one can spare while standing on the street corner. Among those looking for a hot meal include veterans, displaced victims of domestic abuse, individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities, and even families.

For a single mother of several children unable to find suitable work, this may be her answer to how she ensures her children are fed while school is out of session for the winter. But they are together, they are a family. They all are appreciative of the meal they are about to receive.
