Madera’s MMA Warrior Princess Zoila Frausto and her sister, Stephanie, will host a MMA/kickboxing seminar before a Muay Thai kickboxing tournament at Madera South High School’s gymnasium beginning at 10:30 a.m.

For the first time in the Central Valley, a Muay Thai kickboxing tournament, accredited by the International Kickboxing Federation and Point Muay Thai Kickboxing, will take place in Madera South’s gym today, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The tournament is open to men, women and kids of all ages. Organizer Chris Arias is anticipating 40-50 bouts throughout the day with two bouts going at the same time. Weigh-ins begin at 9 a.m.

“Participants can sign up for the tournament until the day of,” Arias said. “But, they have to come to the sign-in at 8 a.m. and the cost is $55.”

Before the fighters take the stage, Madera’s MMA championship sisters Zoila and Stephanie Frausto will be hosting a seminar, beginning at 10:30 a.m., also at the Madera South Gym.

“It’s pretty awesome,” Zoila Frausto said. “I’ve always wanted to come back home. I want to be able to come back home when I retire and give back to the community. To be able to come back is a great experience. Coming from a small town, I want to show them they can do great things. What I’ve learned has been some pretty amazing things.”

The seminar is free to all tournament participants and $40 for all non-participants.

“I’ll talk a little bit and we’ll go over some drills that we like to go through that people can learn from,” Frausto said. “We just teach them some little things they can use in their training. It’s something to put in their heads to use in the tournament or take with them.”

Frausto, who recently fought as a headliner for a recent Combate Americas show in Fresno, hopes to get back into the ring by the end of the year.

“I will be fighting before the year is over, hopefully local,” she said. “I will find out soon enough, most likely, in California, maybe in November.”
