TEC gymnast three-peats at Clovis meet

TEC Gymnastics’ Mia Moreno, won an all around title for the third meet in a row.

Moreno, a level 4 gymnast, captured the title at the Jack-O-Lantern Classic in Clovis on Oct. 20.

Noelia Calvillo, who began the season scoring a 30 in the all around has improved more than four points and is just .2 points away from qualifying for the state championships with a 34.5 all around score. She also placed second on the balance beam with a 9.0.

Jayden Berry qualified for the state championships with her best meet of the season. She placed third in he all around while also placing second on the balance beam and third on the floor exercises.

Sarah Guillen placed second on the uneven bars with a 9.125 and was fourth in the all around.

Moreno placed first in four of the five apparatus with a high of 9.425 on the floor.

The TEC gymnastics’ Level 4 team placed third overall.

“The girls had extra fun as they dressed up like gypsies and, without our knowledge, all the judges dressed as gypsies as well,” TEC Gymnastics owner Tammi Britton said. “We will be practicing hard to prepare for state championships.
