GVUSD appoints Wallace as sup’t

The Golden Valley Unified School District has appointed Rodney Wallace as its new superintendent.

He currently is superintendent of El Tejon Unified School District, where he has provided successful leadership since 2014.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in education, according to information from the Golden Valley office. His resume includes teaching at both the middle and high school level, being a principal at the

elementary, middle and high school levels and being the founding principal of an international school in South Korea. There were 26 applicants for the position, said a Golden Valley news release.

“The board interviewed four finalists for the position during the week of Sept. 17, and unanimously selected Wallace,” Board President Brian Freeman said, “In these exciting times of growth in our district and community, we are look forward to a long and successful partnership with Mr. Wallace. This will be a strong leadership team that will continue the traditions and excellence in everything we do at Golden Valley.”

Wallace has been superintendent at the El Tejon district since 2014, according to The Mountain Enterprise, a newspaper in Frazier Park, where the El Tejon School District headquarters are located.

Wallace was hired at El Tejon at an annual wage of $112,000, according to the Enterprise.
