SR 41 killer gets 39 years to life

A man convicted of the first-degree murder of a woman and attempting to murder another man has been sentenced to 39 years to life in state prison, according to Madera County District Attorney David A. Linn.

George Taylor-Windsor was convicted by a Bass Lake jury on May 10 for both crimes.

Judge Charles Wie-land of Madera County Superior Court, Bass Lake Division, found that requested concurrent sentencing for the crimes would have been inappropriate, and therefore sentenced Taylor-Windsor to the maximum sentence allowable by law.

Taylor-Wilson killed Jessica Nelson and tried to kill Reid Kallenberg on Nov. 15, 2016, on State Route 41 in Oakhurst.

Linn thanked Supervising Deputy District Attorney John Baker and Senior Deputy District Attorney Paul Hornick “for their outstanding work during this case.”

Linn recognized the work of the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, in particular that of Det. Sgt. Robert Mollet and Det. John Grayson.

He also praised Madera County Victim Services, “who worked closely with the victims’ families during this long ordeal.”

Linn said, “This was a very involved crime which took in excess of two weeks to try, and the jury spent over two days in deliberations. The sentence in this case proves that anybody who comes into our community and commits a murder or other serious violent crime will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
