Fireworks and racing at speedway today

The annual fireworks show and Grass Roots Racer Classic has become a tradition at the Madera Speedway.

This is a night where the local race car driver is the star of the show with the famous Madera Speedway low-level, in-your-face style of fireworks as the supporting cast.

The twin 24-lap races that make up 48-lap main events for both the Toyota Sedan and Mini Super Toyotas are a tribute to the late Jeff Doran, and this has become a major part of the Grass Roots Racer Classic.

The Madera Late Models have become a serious place for new drivers to work on their driving skills right alongside of some of the top drivers in the televised series that use the local Madera Late Model nights as tune-up races.

The Super Hobby Stock Series will join the action Saturday. Fans will also see a Jr Late Model exhibition race.

Adult tickets are $15 for the Saturday event event, $13 for seniors and military, $7 for youth ages 6-12, and kids five and under are free.
