Nonstop walk against cancer today

Hundreds of people, from cancer survivors and caregivers to loved ones and those wishing to make a difference will take part in Madera’s 20th annual Relay For Life.
The relay, which will take place at the Industrial Avenue side of Town and Country Park, is expected to have as many as 400 people walking in order to raise money for the American Cancer Society. It will be from 9 a.m. today to 9 a.m. Sunday.
“We’re a 24-hour event,” said Relay For Life spokesperson Charlotte Brewer. “Some have gone to 12.”
At the walk, teams of 20 will go nonstop in relay. The reason, Brewer said, is because “cancer never sleeps.”
“The work is to finish the fight against cancer,” Brewer said.
