2017’s Baby New Year takes her time

Most years the Madera Community Hospital first baby of the year is born while the rest of the world is still toasting and sharing new year kisses.
Adeline Lenore Redding made her appearance 7:32 a.m. on Jan. 2. Baby Adeline weighs 8 pounds, and is 19.5 inches tall.
The baby was delivered by Dr. Charles Ugwu-Oju, obstetrician-gynecelogist of Madera.
Little Miss 2017 is the daughter of Michael Redding and Christina Hester of Chowchilla. She is the third child in her family and is being welcomed by her big brothers Michael, 8 and Jordon, 6. Her paternal grandparents are Donna Holt of Chowchilla and Terry Redding of Sonora and her maternal grandparents are Dorothy and James Hester of Los Banos.
Christina is a teacher and reading specialist at Ronald Reagan Elementary School. She also conducts an after-school-program for the non-profit SER Jobs for Progress, Inc. Redding is the maintenance manager for The Village at Chowchilla where the after-school-program is conducted.
In addition to a year’s subscription to The Madera Tribune, the MCH nursing staff put together a gift package that includes Ingenuity High Chair Trio 3-in-1, Bright Stars Zippy Zoo Activity Gym, Nuk Newborn Learner Cup Transition Kit, a variety of bath lotions, blankets, socks, outfits and hats, a six pack of Pampers baby wipes and a personalized case, a photo package from Mom 365 retail value $55. The MCH Foundation donated a $50 gift card to Walmart, a case of diapers and a gift from the MCH gift shop.
