Man dies shortly after being handcuffed by Lemoore police
LEMOORE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities in Kings County are investigating after a man died shortly after he was handcuffed by Lemoore police.
Police say the man in his 30s started vomiting and stopped breathing shortly after being handcuffed on Saturday.
The man was taken to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford, but was pronounced dead there. Originally, police had responded after callers said the man was trying to break windows and was spitting and kicking people trying to restrain him before police arrived. When officers tried to handcuff him, the man kicked and spit at them.
The man's name has not been released.
The Kings County Multi-Agency Critical Incident team is investigating.
