Diva Fitness, a Madera dance group, joined up with an elementary school to help families in need before Christmas.
The people of Diva Fitness, led by Roz Rojas, and Madera High School cheerleaders came bringing toys and other gifts to 55 families from Millview Elementary School on Saturday as part of a morning of music and dancing. Eight bicycles were also provided, and were given out to children with the highest grades.
The reason for having the drive for Millview, the group’s second year in doing so, was to give back to the Madera community, Rojas said. Before starting Diva Fitness, she stated that she herself had faced economic adversity.
Food was also donated by Valley State Prison in Chowchilla, Millview Elementary principal Rosalinda Galvez said.
