Dealership hosting toy and food drive

Madera Auto Center, 1300 Country Club Drive, will gather playthings and non-perishable edibles through Dec. 22 as part of its Trucks of Hope drive to benefit Valley Children’s Hospital and Madera County Food Bank.

Those who donate a new, unwrapped toy or durable food worth at least $10 will receive a $20 voucher towards a service visit, installed accessory or complimentary wheel alignment check. Madera Auto Center will also accept new, unworn pajamas, books, warm weather clothing, gym shorts, underwear and T-shirts for children or teens.

A toy wish list can be viewed at https://goo.gl/b1X2nV.

“We are about families and the community,” said customer relations manager Lela Mayfohrt, of the family owned and operated business. “If we can help families and the children at Valley Children’s Hospital spend the holidays better, we are going to help.”

Staff of Madera Auto Center, Madera Chevrolet and Madera Toyota will deliver the donations at the end of the drive.

The drive has been held in the past and is only one of several community efforts by the automotive dealership. At the start of the month, MAC also passed out candy canes to children from its Disney movie-themed “Frozen” float pulled by a 2016 Chevy Silverado “reindeer.” Earlier this year, MAC took in $45,000 in donations as part of raffle for a Toyota Tundra. Proceeds went to guilds of Valley Children’s Hospital.
