Love Madera’s Nite Lite planned for Monday

Twelve churches in the Madera Ministerial Association, four agencies in Madera and the Madera police and probation departments have partnered with Love Madera to bring Nite Lite back to the Madera District Fairgrounds on Mondy.

The evening is not organized to celebrate Halloween, but rather to give the community a safe and inexpensive alternative to typical Halloween activities, as well as to celebrate the blessings of the harvest season. The evening is free.

Every adult receives coupons for hot dogs, nachos, chili, desserts and drinks, and can return as often as they want throughout the evening.

Children may play age-appropriate games to win tickets and receive candy. The tickets are used to purchase children’s food throughout the night, as well as used to redeem for prizes. Games are designed for those under kindergarten age to 6th grade. Games will be in Hatfield Hall.

Between Women’s World and Miracle Skate will be the Tween Zone for those “almost teenagers” who are looking for a little more challenge. It will host a 57-foot obstacle course, bungee run and 3 N 1 sports inflatable games, cotton candy, and free admission into Miracle Skate during Nite Lite’s hours of 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Food will be available in Hatfield Hall, Women’s World and Lumber Town.

Jr. High and High School students will have their own area, which is being created and run by youth pastors of the involved churches. This youth zone will include jousting, giant obstacle course, bungee hoops, radical rush, a mechanical bull, and “wipe out!” It will be highlighted by a TacOps lazer tag course. Sorry parents, this is just for high school and middle schoolers, and will be housed outdoors in the large amphitheater.

The Fairgrounds main stage will be hosting concerts throughout the evening. Gospel Country artists — Nashville West Edition — also will play later in Lumber Town.

Grupo Rio Jordan, who play conjunto Tejano regional style Hispanic music, will perform, as will Higher Call, a Christian contemporary band featuring longtime Maderan Mark Woods.

Parking will be free.
