Inside the Game: Kerman Lions 42, Madera South 14
Player of the game: Despite a hard loss for the Stallions, running back Maurice McClain played a stellar game. He was able to run for 71 yards and gain another 11 yards receiving. He also recovered a fumble in the Lions’ end zone, and the ensuing drive resulted in the Stallions’ first score of the game.
Unsung hero of the game: The one-two punch of defensive backs Martin Almarez and Esteban Rodriquez resulted in a much needed sack in the second half, forcing Kerman to punt. Johnson ran for a touchdown in the resulting drive.
Play of the game: Kerman’s Mario Hernandez returned the opening kickoff return for 99 yards to score a touchdown for Kerman on the first play of the game. This play set the tone for the rest of the game.
Drive of the game: After the fumble recovery by McClain in the second quarter, the Stallions were able to drive the ball 80 yards with the help of a 10-yard run by Johnson, and an 11-yard pass to Jaylan Neal. The Stallions scored their only touchdown of the first half with a 26 yard pass to Mora.
