Valley in for warm-up, triple digits

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California is in for a statewide warm-up with triple digit temperatures in the Central Valley and other interior areas by the weekend.

The National Weather Service says high pressure ridge will build into the state from the southwest Thursday night through Saturday and remain in control through the middle of next week.

Temperatures will be above normal virtually everywhere. Forecasters note, for example, that visitors to Yosemite National Park this weekend should expect highs near the century mark in Yosemite Valley.

Smoke from various wildfires around the state could cause air quality problems.
