Canadian woman arrested in Modesto with 83 pounds of heroin
MODESTO, Calif. (AP) — Police in Central California say they arrested a woman carrying 83 pounds of heroin after a police dog alerted his handler to drugs inside her pickup truck during a traffic stop.
Modesto Police spokeswoman Heather Graves says investigators would not release the moving violation allegedly committed by the driver that led to the probable cause for the stop.
Graves says patrol officers, with the assistance of the Modesto Narcotics Enforcement Team, obtained a search warrant for the truck and recovered 38 kilograms (83 pounds) of heroin with an estimated street value of over $2 million.
Landry was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sales and transportation of a controlled substance.
