Fresno beats Reno twice in doubleheader

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Max Stassi hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, leading the Fresno Grizzlies to a 4-3 win over the Reno Aces in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Reno had a runner on second in the top of the seventh, but Kyle Jensen struck out to end the game.

James Hoyt (4-3) got the win in relief while Jimmie Sherfy (0-1) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.

The Grizzlies swept both games of the doubleheader after winning the first game against the Aces 5-0 with Brad Peacock tossing a three-hit shutout.

Peacock (3-4) struck out 12 and walked one to get the win.

In the bottom of the fourth, Fresno grabbed the lead on a double by Jon Singleton that scored Tyler White and Colin Moran. The Grizzlies then added two runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth. In the fifth, White hit a two-run double, while Tony Kemp hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Singleton in the sixth.

Braden Shipley (7-5) went five innings, allowing four runs and seven hits in the Pacific Coast League game. He also struck out two and walked one.

The Aces were blanked for the fifth time this season, while the Grizzlies' staff recorded their eighth shutout of the year.
