Inmate dies in Fresno after medical emergency

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a juvenile inmate who was having a medical emergency was taken to a central California hospital where she died.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says Sunday that 16-year-old Bryana Terriquez was being held at the Juvenile Justice Campus south of Fresno.

She was taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno, where she died Saturday.

The cause of her death will be determined by an autopsy and her family has been notified.

Authorities say Terriquez was in custody due to an unspecified probation violation.
