Bregman, Hernandez lead Fresno to 4-1 win over Sacramento

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Alex Bregman hit a two-run homer in the third inning, and Teoscar Hernandez tripled and doubled as the Fresno Grizzlies beat the Sacramento River Cats 4-1 on Monday.

The home run by Bregman scored Tyler Heineman to give the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead.

The River Cats cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Gorkys Hernandez hit an RBI single, scoring Rando Moreno.

The Grizzlies later tacked on two runs in the eighth when Bregman hit a solo home run and T. Hernandez hit an RBI triple to secure the victory.

Fresno right-hander Cesar Valdez (6-1) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on six hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Adalberto Mejia (1-1) took the tough loss in the Pacific Coast League game after giving up two runs and seven hits over seven innings. James Hoyt retired the side in order for his 21st save of the season.

Fresno remains undefeated against Sacramento this season at 5-0.
