Heineman leads Fresno to 5-3 win over Tacoma
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Tyler Heineman homered as the Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Tacoma Rainiers 5-3 on Tuesday.
Fresno took the lead in the first when it scored three runs, including a single by Jon Kemmer that scored Preston Tucker.
The Rainiers cut into the deficit in the third inning when Mike Zunino and Efren Navarro hit RBI singles.
The Grizzlies later tacked on a run in both the third and eighth innings. In the third, Kemmer hit an RBI single, while Heineman hit a solo home run in the eighth.
Fresno right-hander Cesar Valdez (5-1) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings. Opposing starter Zach Lee (7-6) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after a rough outing in which he allowed four runs and six hits over three innings. James Hoyt struck out the side for his 19th save of the season.
Zunino had three hits for the Rainiers.
