MPD makes arrest on passed out driver

Madera Police Department officers responded to a parking lot near Pecan Avenue and South Madera Avenue for a report of a driver passed out behind the wheel.

Upon arrival, officers found a Madera resident in her twenties, seated in the driver’s seat with the vehicle running.

Surveillance footage confirmed the driver had operated the vehicle before officers arrived. The driver displayed signs of intoxication, and after failing field sobriety tests, she was arrested for driving under the influence.

The driver’s blood alcohol content was determined to be more than twice the legal limit. She was subsequently booked into the Madera County Jail.

Thankfully, the driver was stopped before anyone was hurt.
