Winged World Series event rolls into Madera Speedway

The inaugural Pabst Blue Ribbon Winged World race featuring Winged Sprint Cars racing against Super Modifieds will run today at the LoanMart Madera Speedway.

“This is a new beginning for winged racing in the state,” said Kenny Shepherd, the CEO and promoter of Short Track Management Company. “The Speedway is famous for winged open wheel racing and fans want this type of racing, so we are building what will be the most exciting series on the West Coast.”

The fastest lap ever at Madera — set by Davey Hamilton at 11.89 — is expected to be broken this weekend. It is also the fastest 1/3 mile lap record in the West and coveted by many drivers.

Last weekend in the Southwest Tour event, Jim Pettit II destroyed the old track record at the Speedway as he set a new tour record of 13.4 seconds...
