When the starters where announced prior to the tip-off of the City/County All-Star basketball game at Buchanan-Clovis High School, Madera 6-foot-4 shooting guard Mackey West was one of the five County players who walked on the court to begin the game.

For West, it was a big achievement to be recognized as one of the best high school basketball players in the county.

“It was a goal of mine and I made it, so I was very happy,” West said.

Although the game didn’t go in the County’s favor in a 104-94 loss to the City Wednesday night, West was still thrilled to be a part of an event that showcased the highly skilled basketball players in the Central Section...
