Walk off homer leads to County win

The City team just got back in the game and was looking towards extra innings when Fowler’s Marissa Rendon sent a pitch over the left field fence to walk off with a 7-6 County victory in the annual City/County Softball All-Star game at Bulldog Diamond.

Rendon atoned for her performance in the circle where she gave up the tying run in the seventh and eighth innings that led to the bottom of the ninth situation Wednesday. Rendon’s hit capped a wild final three innings where the teams scored eight of 13 runs.

The County squad held a 5-0 lead after scoring two runs in the sixth.

The city of Madera was well represented at the game. Madera and Madera South were placed on the City squad while Liberty’s four were placed on the County squad. Coyote head coach Judy Shaubach and her players Jackie Anzaldo and Naomi Gomez represented Madera High. Kristina Valle was the lone Madera South representative...
