The Central Section playoff selection committee sent athletic directors throughout the valley to their phones Monday to line up transportation for tennis and boys volleyball teams.
The committee dealt out seedings on Monday rather than on Saturday, which has been the day in the past. The office will hand out seedings Saturday for the upcoming baseball and softball playoffs, but boys tennis and volleyball teams had to wait until Monday morning to find out their first round match-ups, which begin today.
In boys volleyball, Madera head coach Rhonda Jefferson saw her blood pressure soar through the roof when she was handed the No. 11 seed and set to play the Clovis North Broncos for the fourth time this season.
Three teams that the Coyotes defeated were given higher seeds. Madera finished 16-17 overall and third place in the County/Metro Athletic Conference with a 5-5 record.
