MADERA RANCHOS — For one Liberty Hawk girls soccer player, the victory meant a trip to Disneyland. For the rest, the win meant a 2012 Central Section Division IV championship.

Freshman goalkeeper Allison Saether held off a furious second half charge by No. 2 seed Central Valley ChristianVisalia, the defending Division IV Valley Champions, on Friday to lead the top-seeded Hawks to the program’s first Division IV Championship after claiming two Division V titles.

Juliet Olsen scored the eventual game-winning goal 10 minutes into the game and the rest of the Hawks defense held off the Cavaliers for the 1-0 victory.

“The defense came through for us,” head coach Ed Benavente said. The victory also came on forward Bridgitte Burnell’s birthday, and she spent the weekend at Disneyland after winning her second Valley Championship. Her first was as a freshman two years ago...
