After a hiccup in a loss Friday to the Fresno Warriors, the Madera South Softball team came back behind two Kristina Valle home runs for a 12-7 victory Tuesday over the Reedley Pirates on Swing for Life day at Madera South.

The Stallions (4-1), who previously lost to the Pirates 14-1 and 8-0, came from behind for the win. Valle drove in six runs to lead a 12-hit attack in a game filled with errors. The Stallions moved into first place in the North Yosemite League with the win.

The Pirates committed eight errors, which accounted for eight unearned runs. The Stallions committed four, which led to five unearned runs.

“This is huge,” head coach Kelly Valmonte said. “We’ve never won a Swing for Life game. This is the best win of the season. We worked with the kids to play as a team with the little things and they are starting to pick it up.” ...
