Track champions crowned at LoanMart Madera Speedway

What began as a journey in March for racers in the local classes seeking a track title officially ended Saturday on Championship Night at the LoanMart Madera Speedway.

In the final points race of the season, a well-deserving track champion emerged from each division including the LunkerDaddy Limited Late Models, Toyota Sedans, Hobby Stocks, MST’s and NCMA Sprint Cars along with the WSRA Mini Cups.

In the LunkerDaddy Limited Late Models main, fans packed the grandstands to see if defending track champion Tony “the Tiger” Schmitz could overcome a three-point margin and hold on to his track title.

That would be a tough task against points-leader Matt “Attack” Erickson, who not only won the whole deal in 2010, but was also last season’s Coors Light Open Late Models champion...
