The Liberty Hawk girls soccer team allowed just one good shot on goal, scored in the ninth minute and didn’t stop in a 5-1 victory in the semifinals of the Division IV playoffs.
Juliet Olsen scored the first goal of the game in the ninth minute and closed out the scoring with a goal in the 73rd minute for the Hawks.
“There was still a bitter taste in the girls’ mouths after losing to Kingsburg late in last year’s playoff game,” head coach Ed Benavente said. “They wanted to show they should have won that game and have that top seed.”
The top-seeded Hawks will now host No. 2 Central Valley Christian-Visalia, who was a 3- 1 winner over No. 6 seed McLane-Fresno, on Friday at 6 p.m. It will mark Liberty’s second Valley Championship appearance in four years and first-ever home Valley Championship match...
