Tigers too much to tame for Coyotes

The Madera Coyote girls basketball team lost the opening tipoff and nothing went right the rest of the way in a 58-11 loss to No. 5 Edison-Fresno.

The Coyotes shot 11 percent (5-of-46) from the field, turned the ball over 28 times and had eight shots blocked in their County/Metro Athletic Conference loss to the Tigers on Friday night.

“We showed our inexperience in the post,” head coach Jason Smith said. “We came out intimidated and Edison took advantage.”

The Tigers ran up a 20-2 first quarter lead and never looked back. Edison leading scorer Brittney Sims recorded 11 of her game-high 20 points in the quarter...
