State champs get ready for regionals

After the Madera Babe Ruth 14-year-old All-Star team won the Central California State Babe Ruth Tournament on July 16, plans were immediately made to help send the team to the regionals in Surprise, Ariz.

Parents of the team have knocked on doors and asked for donations and it will all be used Thursday night at Mel Parker Field for a fundraising party.

The all-stars will host a pulled pork dinner as well as a home run derby, a silent auction and an exhibition game beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Chase’s Chop Shop will provide the dinner for the fundraiser. The cost is $10 for a pulled pork dinner with beans, chips and a drink. There will be a children’s plate of a hot dog, chips, and a drink for $5...
