State berths on the line for Coyotes, Stallions

If athletes on the Madera and Madera South track and field teams want to earn a trip to the glorious CIF State Meet, they’ll have to put their best foot forward at today’s Central Section Master’s in Clovis.

In all, the Coyotes and Stallions have 15 athletes who have a chance at advancing to take on the state’s best track and field athletes at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan-Clovis High on June 6 and 7.

According to Madera head coach Russ Stanford and Madera South head coach Rich Parris, to make it this far into the season is still a big accomplishment for the student-athletes who will face the section’s best today beginning at 4 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Coyotes send a variety of competitors including a couple of athletes who qualified in their first year on the team...
