With the absence of middle blocker Justine Williams, the Madera South Stallions needed to get contributions from the rest of the line-up in a non-league match with Hoover-Fresno.

Despite 7 kills from Lilly Martinez, the Stallions got 11 from four other hitters in a 3-0 loss to the Patriots on Thursday. Hoover’s Meranda Watkins had 16 kills herself.

Williams was averaging more than 12 kills a match and is the Stallion record holder for most kills and blocks in a single season. She injured her shoulder at practice Monday and her availability is still unknown.

“This was the first time in six years that there hasn’t been a Valeria Martinez or a Justine Williams on the court for the Stallions,” head coach Nate Perez said...
