Coyote girls place in top 4

When it comes to the cross country teams at Madera and Madera South, both head coaches can agree that their young runners are maturing at a rapid rate.

For Coyote head coach Russ Stanford and Stallion head coach Rich Parris, both of their varsity squads are underclassmen-dominated, but there’s no need to panic.

Those runners are not only helping their respective teams out on the course but they are also becoming the unquestioned leaders off of it.

In the case of Madera South — a heavy favorite to repeat as Div. I section champions — the Stallion boys were led by a rising sophomore star in Eduardo Herrera at the three-mile McFarland/Jim White Invitational on Saturday. He paced the team to a first place finish with a combined time of 1:14:13 ahead of second place finisher McFarland (1:15:51)...
