Although its first three offensive plays included two fumbles and a two-yard loss on a sack, the Madera South football team settled down and its dominant running game picked up right where it left off from last year’s 11-2 North Yosemite League champions.

In Friday’s scrimmage at Memorial Stadium against Division I school BuchananClovis of the Tri-River Athletic Conference, Madera South prepared for its seasonopening game with Kerman.

The Stallions will kickoff against the North Sequoia League Lions on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Stadium.

After those forgettable first three downs to start the scrimmage, the Stallions marched 50 yards on five run-plays which included a big 20-yard gain by senior running back Lalo Guzman and a four-yard touchdown plunge up the middle by converted fullback Christian Morales...
