Stallions bring home section titles
FRESNO — Despite a heavy downpour the night before the biggest race of the season, the Madera South boys and girls cross country teams weren’t going to let Mother Nature deny them a championship.
Instead, the heavily favored Stallion teams welcomed the challenge of running on a dampened Woodward Park course in Thursday’s CIF Central Section Championships as the boys team expectedly won the Div. I title while girls claimed the Div. II crown for the first time in the program’s history.
For Madera South head coach Rich Parris, the unpredictable weather change wasn’t enough to alter his team’s determination and will to win six straight boys section championships or taking the girls’ first title.
With the victories, both teams earned a trip to the CIF State Cross Country Championships meet on Nov. 30...
