After a big win over its cross-town rival, the Madera South boys volleyball team had to take on an unbeaten team from the Tri-River Athletic Conference — a league that is home to the last three Central Section champions.
The Stallions suffered a 3-0 home loss Tuesday to the Clovis Cougars (10-0) as Madera South couldn’t quite match the intensity it had in a 3-2 win over Madera last Thursday.
Clovis outside senior hitters Geno Hernandez and Allston Moore did most of the damage for the Cougars in their 25-18, 25-16, 25-15 win. Moore had a game-high 10 kills along with three blocks while Hernandez had nine kills and four blocks in the match.
“I knew they (the Cougars) were undefeated and have guys with a lot of experience,” Stallion head coach Steve Guglielmana said. “I think our hitters were a little timid and we didn’t have that spark that we did last week against Madera.”...
