After being taken to a fifth set in a nail-biting win over McLane-Fresno in its previous game, the Madera South boys volleyball team certainly didn’t want to chance going another five sets in its latest match.
The Stallions, who were coming off a 3-2 win over the Highlanders on Tuesday, finished off the RooseveltFresno Rough Riders in three sets Thursday night with a 25-19, 25-19, 27-25 victory at Madera South.
The Stallions were able to hold off late charges by the Rough Riders in all three sets as Madera South improved to 2-1 in the North Yosemite League.
“I knew Roosevelt was going to be the same as McLane and come out, fight hard and go-non stop,” Madera South head coach Steve Guglielmana said. “They play a more up-tempo game and play a lot of good defense.” ...
