Stallions surge late for win over Sanger

The Madera South Stallions boys basketball team used a late 13-1 run to secure a 42-31 victory over Sanger in a County/Metro Athletic Conference game at Madera South.

The Apaches cut the Stallions lead to two with six minutes left in the game Wednesday evening. The Stallions responded by making their next five shots to jump out to a 42-28 lead with 1:11 left in the game on Senior Night.

“I’m proud of the kids,” head coach Jody Sharp said. “The last time we played them, we had an 11-point lead and lost it in the fourth quarter. I’m proud of them and they bounced back, especially on Senior Night. It’s special for them to get a ‘W’ at home.”

Sharp closed the game by having all four seniors on the court — Andre Wiltz, Adriano Coronado, Marcos Garcia and Juwan Cummings...
