Stallions start year with Kerman

After scrimmaging last week, the Madera South football team will make real hits tonight as it officially opens the season against Kerman (0-1) at 7:30 in Memorial Stadium.

The Stallions, who are coming off an 11-2 season with the undefeated North Yosemite League crown, are familiar with the Lions as this will be the fourth straight year that the teams face each other.

“This game is going to come down to mistakes,” Madera South head coach Scott Donegan said. “Whoever has the fewest and is able to capitalize on the other team’s turnovers will be the winner.”

Since 2009, the Lions have the slight edge, having won the first two games between the teams before the Stallions manhandled them 35-0 last season in Kerman...
