Stallions shut down Edison

The last time the Madera South girls soccer team hosted Edison-Fresno, the Tigers ended the Stallions’ season with a 1-0 overtime win in the first round of the Div. II 2012 playoffs.

Edison (6-11-4) made a return trip to Memorial Stadium but this time it was the Stallions (6-11) that were able to pull out a 1-0 win Tuesday night to complete the season sweep of the Tigers in County/Metro Athletic Conference play.

“This is the team that beat us in the playoffs last year, so anytime we face them it’s a little special for us,” Stallion head coach Patrick Evans said. “Edison is big, fast and athletic but we shut them down.”

The Stallions also beat the Tigers, 2-1, in Fresno on Jan. 10 as both teams are currently 2-5 in the CMAC...
