With the season opener just eight days away, the Madera South football team will suit up for a scrimmage tonight at 7:30 in Memorial Stadium against Division I school Buchanan-Clovis.

The Stallions are coming off their most successful season in the school’s six-year history, which included a 5-0 run through North Yosemite League play to claim the 2011 title and an 11-2 overall record as they reached the Central Section Division III semifinals.

Madera South will compete in the County/Metro Athletic Conference this season which includes cross-town rival Madera, defending league champion Edison-Fresno and Central Section Division I runner-up Bullard-Fresno.

The scrimmage will give Stallions head coach Scott Donegan a chance to see which new and returning players will solidify their starting positions for the upcoming game against Kerman as Madera South lost 16 starters, including NYLDefensive Player of the Year Luis Placido, from last season’s history-making squad...
