Stallions mistakes lead to defeat

The Madera South Stallions came from behind to score 10 runs in the sixth inning in a win over the Edison-Fresno Tigers on Tuesday, but couldn’t carry over that success in a loss to the San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno Panthers at Eddie Chapa Field.

The Stallions committed three errors that allowed three unearned runs in the first four innings of a 6-3 loss to the Panthers on Friday.

Pitcher Donovan Bertoncini kept the Stallions in the game with his bat and his right arm. He tossed a complete game and hit two doubles with an RBI for the only two Stallions hits of the game.

“Tuesday was a really good day for us,” head coach John Fernandez said. “It was different approaches today. I didn’t feel their pitcher was overpowering, but he had good locations. We took the attitude that he isn’t overpowering and do something that we don’t practice. We still have to understand that’s not what we do." ...
