In its first game of the year, the Madera South football team started strong but just couldn’t overcome a number of penalties and a big-time rush attack from Kerman.

The Stallions suffered a 31-20 loss to the Lions as Kerman snapped its 13-game losing streak Friday night at Memorial Stadium and also avenged last season’s 35-point home loss to Madera South.

Kerman rushed for 263 yards and three touchdowns on 49 attempts in the win as 5-foot-10, 210-pound senior Antonio Castillo led the way with 131 yards and a score on 21 carries.

“We couldn’t stop the run and if you can’t stop that, it’s pretty tough to win,” Stallions head coach Scott Donegan said...
